We confirm that we have supplied our cell gas filters of types ZFG/ZEFG made of ductile iron for the use of hydrogen several times in recent years. At the present time, we have not received any negative feedback on the reference projects used.

The functional suitability for use with hydrogen has so far been confirmed by our customers.

Our ZFG/ZEFG (ductile iron) and VZF/VZEF (cast aluminum) cell gas filters have been subjected to a hydrogen emission test based on DIN EN ISO 15848 at an independent institute.

The requirements of DIN EN ISO 15848 (max. 50 ppmV leakage of housing seals) were met and even significantly exceeded.

Based on several years of experience in the use of our cell gas filters type ZFG/ZEFG for hydrogen as well as the successful emission test of all types, we rate our type-tested cell gas filters type ZFG/ZEFG and type VZF/VZEF as suitable for use in hydrogen plants.

Upon customer request, we will be pleased to perform an additional leak test with helium.

We would like to point out that the suitability of the application for operation with natural gas-hydrogen mixtures with a hydrogen content of >10 vol-% up to 100% must be determined by a risk assessment of the plant operator prior to commissioning.

In November 2017, we received our new DVGW certificates for extended application ranges of our cellular gas filters.

The extensions of the newly approved applications require no additional TÜV approval.

Cell gas filter type ZFG for controlled system in a power-to-gas plant (PtG) in Hassfurt for the expansion of a hydrogen block-type thermal power station. In this application, (100% H2) “regeneratively produced hydrogen from wind power” is used for reconversion in an H2 CHP plant.


The plant will be successfully commissioned in June 2019.

Our cellular gas filters are certified for the market entry of goods on the EU market as per the key date 21.04.2018 in accordance with EU Gas Appliance Regulation EU/2016/426 (GAR). You can find our certificates for download here.

As of 21.04.2018, all gas appliances and equipment must comply with the requirements for placing them on the market in the European Economic Area in accordance with the Gas Appliance Regulation EU/2016/426 (GAR). This Gas Regulation replaces the previously valid Gas Appliance Directive 2009/142/EU (GAD). All GAD certifications are no longer valid after April 21st.

Block Valve with Bypass:

For simple and compact installation of our DP900 differential pressure gauge, we have developed a block valve with bypass function.

The valve block is equipped with a fine filter and 2 pieces of DVGW-approved shut-off ball valves. The entire unit is completely assembled to your filter. Any piping and on-site adaptation is not applicable anymore. With the delivery you will receive a certificate according to EN10204 / 3.1 for the complete unit.

In the course of the delivery of the F-class gas turbine from Siemens to the MAPNA Group in Iran, the company Thielmann Energietechnik GmbH delivers 4 final filters to the plant manufacturer.
The final filter skid, which is completely assembled by the plant manufacturer, is used to treat the gas for operation of the turbine.

The Bandar Abbas power plant in Iran will have an electrical output of around 600 MW and will supply around 150,000 households.
